About Me

Hi, I’m Varnika.

Writer. Parent. Your honest guide through the beautiful chaos of raising kids in America.

I write about the real work of parenting — the science, the struggle, the small wins that nobody posts about. No perfection here. Just honest, research-backed content that actually helps.

My Story

I started varnikashukla.com because I was drowning in parenting content that felt nothing like my actual life. Every article I found was either terrifyingly clinical or unrealistically cheerful. I was a parent in the United States, navigating school systems, screen time negotiations, bedtime battles, and big emotional conversations — and I needed something real.

So I started writing. About what the research actually says versus what the internet tells you. About the moments of connection that happen in the middle of the chaos. About raising kids in a culture that is simultaneously overwhelmed with parenting advice and starved of genuine, honest support.

“I don’t write for the parent who has it figured out. I write for the parent at 10pm, Googling whether they’re doing it wrong. You’re not. You’re just in it.”

My writing draws on developmental psychology, attachment science, and the kind of lived experience that no textbook covers. I believe that good parenting isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence, consistency, and the willingness to keep learning. Every post I write is something I wish I’d had when I needed it most.

This blog is built for American parents — because parenting in the US has its own particular texture. The school systems, the cultural pressures, the healthcare gaps, the work-life impossible balance, the social media landscape your kids are growing up inside. I write to all of it, specifically and honestly.

What I Stand For

Every article on this blog is written with these commitments in mind.

Evidence Over Trend

Every recommendation I make is grounded in developmental research, psychology, or peer-reviewed science — not whatever is viral on social media this week.

Honesty Over Comfort

I won’t tell you what you want to hear if it isn’t true. Parenting is hard. The truth is more useful than reassurance that isn’t earned.

Parents Matter Too

Your wellbeing is not separate from your children’s wellbeing. I write about parent mental health, guilt, and burnout with the same seriousness as child development.

No Perfection Required

This blog is not for perfect parents. It’s for real ones. I believe the “good enough” parent — present, consistent, loving — is exactly enough.

American Context Matters

Parenting in the US has unique challenges: the school system, the healthcare gaps, the culture of overachievement. I write to that reality specifically.

Conversation, Not Lecture

I’m a writer and a parent, not a guru. I share what I’ve learned alongside you, not from above you. This is always a conversation.
